An Act respecting French-language services in Manitoba
Manitoba's Bill 45 (French-language Services Act amendments) is the Kinew NDP government's strengthening of the 2016 Bill 5 framework after a Cour d'appel du Manitoba ruling found that the province had not adequately funded the Université de Saint-Boniface and the Division scolaire franco-manitobaine. Adds a binding linguistic-active-offer obligation at all government counters in the Bilingual Service Centres, increases statutory funding floors, and creates a Commissioner of French-Language Services as an officer of the Legislative Assembly with investigation powers.
