An Act respecting Ukrainian Heritage Month
Bill C-204 was a Liberal Private Member's Bill respecting Ukrainian Heritage Month (distinct from the more famous Bill C-203 of 45-1 establishing September as the month). C-204 in 44-1 designated August as Ukrainian Heritage Month (commemorating the August 24, 1991 Ukrainian Declaration of Independence). Approximately 1.36 million Canadians reported Ukrainian origin on the 2021 Statistics Canada census, the world's third-largest Ukrainian diaspora after Russia and Ukraine itself. The bill was overtaken by C-203 of 45-1 which moved the proposed month to September; that successor bill was also still before Parliament at end of 45-1. C-204 did not pass second reading in 44-1.
