C-339Government of Canada
An Act to amend the Competition Act (efficiencies defence)
Amends the Competition Act to repeal the so-called 'efficiencies defence,' which currently lets parties to an anti-competitive merger argue that efficiency gains outweigh competitive harm. The federal government later repealed the defence through the 2023 Affordable Housing and Groceries Act (C-56).
