An Act to amend the Criminal Code (provincial medical assistance in dying framework)
Bill C-390 was a Bloc Québécois Private Member's Bill amending the Criminal Code (R.S.C. 1985, c. C-46) to give provinces the authority to regulate medical assistance in dying (MAID) procedures within their healthcare systems, including the choice of practitioners, eligibility procedures beyond federal MAID eligibility criteria, and procedural safeguards. Currently MAID eligibility is set federally under sections 241.1 to 241.4 of the Criminal Code (introduced 2016, expanded 2021), with provincial healthcare systems delivering. C-390 sought to fortify provincial jurisdiction over the delivery framework. Did not pass second reading.
