An Act to establish International Tax Justice and Cooperation Day

Bill S-264 (44-1) was a Senate Private Member's Bill to designate June 4 as International Tax Justice and Cooperation Day, marking the global push against tax havens and tax evasion that gained momentum after the 2016 Panama Papers leak exposed more than 200,000 offshore entities. Canada has since taken part in the OECD's global-minimum-tax framework. The day is a symbolic recognition of international cooperation on fair taxation. It did not pass third reading.
