An Act respecting regulatory modernization
Bill S-6 was a government Senate bill respecting regulatory modernization, the federal annual omnibus regulatory-reform statute under the Treasury Board's Annual Regulatory Modernization Bill process (launched 2019). Royal assent on June 22, 2023 (S.C. 2023, c. 16). Amended 29 federal Acts including the Customs Act, the Excise Act, the Food and Drugs Act, the Hazardous Products Act, the Motor Vehicle Safety Act, and the Trade-marks Act to reduce administrative burden on businesses, harmonize regulations with international trading partners, and consolidate overlapping federal regulatory frameworks. The 2023 Bill S-6 was the third in the series of annual federal regulatory-modernization bills (preceded by 42-1 Bill S-5 and 43-2 Bill S-3).
