Danielle Martin is the Liberal MP for Toronto University-Rosedale (Ontario), elected at the April 13, 2026 federal byelection that helped secure the Carney Liberal majority government. Won the byelection triggered by the resignation of former Liberal MP Chrystia Freeland (who served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance from 2019 to 2024 and resigned from Parliament in early 2026 to take a private-sector role). Before politics she was a family physician at Women's College Hospital in Toronto and an associate professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine. A long-standing public-healthcare advocate, she authored Better Now: Six Big Ideas to Improve Health Care for All Canadians (2017) and co-founded Canadian Doctors for Medicare.
