
Tim Hodgson is the federal Minister of Energy and Natural Resources in the Carney cabinet. Liberal MP for Markham-Thornhill since the April 28, 2025 election. A long-time investment banker, former CEO of Goldman Sachs Canada from 2005 to 2010 and chair of MEG Energy 2017-2022, he served as special advisor to then-Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney from 2010 to 2013 (advising on Canadian financial-sector reform after the global financial crisis). His Energy and Natural Resources file covers the Pathways Alliance carbon-capture project, the federal-provincial Energy Collaboration Agreement signed with Alberta in May 2026, and the National Electricity Strategy unveiled on May 15, 2026.
