Salma Zahid is the Liberal MP for Scarborough Centre, active on immigration and community issues. First elected in 2015 and re-elected in 2019, 2021, and 2025. Born in Pakistan and migrated to Canada in 2000, she sponsored Bill C-348 establishing Somali Heritage Month in the 44th Parliament. Served as Chair of the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration in the 43rd and 44th Parliaments, and was a long-time staffer in the Ontario Liberal government before federal politics.
