Before federal politics, partner at Stewart McKelvey, one of the largest Atlantic Canadian law firms, focusing on corporate and commercial litigation. Has served as Parliamentary Secretary in several portfolios across the Trudeau and Carney governments, with particular focus on Atlantic-economic-development files and PEI-specific Crown lands and ferry-service questions. Re-elected five times, currently a senior Atlantic Liberal voice on House Justice and Human Rights questions.
