Michael Chong is Foreign Affairs Critic for the Conservative Party and MP for Wellington-Halton Hills (Ontario), first elected in 2004. Resigned from Stephen Harper's Cabinet in November 2006 over the Quebec-as-a-nation motion (the only Cabinet minister in Canadian history to resign over a unanimity issue rather than a confidence one). Sponsored the Reform Act, 2014 (the only major democratic-reform PMB to become law in modern times) that gave caucuses statutory power to remove a leader, expel members, and trigger a leadership review. Was the target of Chinese government intimidation campaign documented by CSIS in 2023.
