Derek Mombourquette is Interim Leader of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party (since November 26, 2024). Liberal MLA for Sydney-Membertou, first elected in 2015 and re-elected in 2017, 2021, and 2024. Previously Minister of Energy and Mines (2017-2018), Minister of Municipal Affairs (2018-2020), and Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development (2020-2021) in the Stephen McNeil and Iain Rankin Liberal cabinets. Took interim leadership after Zach Churchill lost his seat in the 2024 general election that reduced the Liberals to two MLAs.
