First elected to the House of Commons in 2015 and re-elected in 2019, 2021, and 2025, he previously served as Parti Québécois MNA for Masson in the Quebec National Assembly from 1998 to 2007. Sponsored Bill C-282 (44-1), the supply-management trade-protection statute that passed third reading in the Commons and received royal assent on June 13, 2024 (S.C. 2024, c. 9). Has been the Bloc's primary voice on the Canada Health Transfer, pharmacare, and the constitutional division of health-care jurisdiction.
