Mark Sutcliffe is the 59th Mayor of Ottawa (since November 15, 2022). Before becoming mayor he was a radio host on 580 CFRA, a business journalist with the Ottawa Citizen, and the founder of Great River Media. Defeated former mayor Bob Chiarelli and councillor Catherine McKenney in the October 24, 2022 election. As Mayor he has overseen the 2.5 percent tax cap of the 2024 budget, the city's response to the Phase 2 LRT delays, the Ottawa Police Service operating-pressure file following the 2022 Freedom Convoy occupation, and the federal-provincial pressure on Ottawa's long-term financial sustainability after pandemic transit losses.
