Andy Fillmore is the Mayor of Halifax Regional Municipality (since November 4, 2024). Before becoming mayor he served as the federal Liberal MP for Halifax (2015-2024), defeating long-time NDP MP Megan Leslie in the 2015 election. By training an urban planner and an adjunct professor at Dalhousie University's School of Planning. Defeated former MP Pamela Lovelace and councillor Waye Mason in the October 19, 2024 mayoral race. As Mayor he has focused on HRM's response to the Houston PC government's Bill 26 charter amendments giving the province new authority over Halifax planning, and on transit-network reform.
