Stephen Lecce is Minister of Energy and Electrification of Ontario (since June 6, 2024). MPP for King-Vaughan, elected in 2018. Previously Minister of Education (2019-2024) under Doug Ford, presiding over the 2019 teacher-union job action, the COVID-era school closure decisions, the 2022 Bill 28 invocation-and-withdrawal of the notwithstanding clause against CUPE education workers, and the 2024 cellphone-in-classroom directive. As Energy Minister he has overseen the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station refurbishment decision, the Bruce Power expansion, and the Ontario response to federal Clean Electricity Regulations.
