Bernard Drainville is Minister of Economy, Innovation and Energy of Quebec (since April 21, 2026 under Premier Christine Frechette, succeeding Frechette herself in the portfolio). MNA for Levis, elected in 2022. Previously Minister of Education (October 21, 2022 to April 2026). Originally a journalist and Radio-Canada and TVA host, then a Parti Quebecois MNA (2007-2014) holding cabinet positions including Minister of Democratic Institutions. Finished second in the April 12 2026 CAQ leadership race with 42 percent of the vote against Frechette's 58 percent; Frechette honoured her campaign pledge to keep a role for her runner-up by giving him the economy portfolio.
