Lisa Beare is Minister of Education and Child Care of British Columbia (since November 18, 2024). NDP MLA for Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows, first elected in 2017 and re-elected in 2020 and 2024. Before politics she ran a marketing and event business in Maple Ridge. Previously Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport (2017-2020), Minister of Citizens' Services (2020-2022), and Minister of State for Child Care (2022-2024) under John Horgan and David Eby. As Education Minister she has overseen the continued $10-a-day child-care expansion, the BC seismic-school replacement program, and the response to the teacher shortage in Northern BC and the Interior.
