
Claire Johnson is Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development of New Brunswick (since November 2, 2024). Liberal MLA for Moncton East, first elected in 2024 in the general election that brought Susan Holt's Liberals to power. Before politics she was a public-school teacher in southeastern New Brunswick. As Education Minister she led the immediate rescission of the previous Higgs government's controversial Policy 713 amendments that had required parental consent for student name and pronoun changes for children under 16, restoring the original 2020 student-affirming version of the policy.
