Tracy Schmidt is Minister of Environment and Climate Change of Manitoba (since October 18, 2023). NDP MLA for Rossmere, first elected in 2023. Before politics she was a public-school teacher and union activist with the Manitoba Teachers' Society. As Environment Minister she has led the Manitoba response to federal Clean Electricity Regulations, the provincial position on Lake Winnipeg eutrophication remediation, and the Bill 37 review of provincial environmental assessment processes.
