About
Nello Altomare is Minister of Education and Early Childhood Learning of Manitoba (since October 18, 2023). NDP MLA for Transcona, first elected in 2019 and re-elected in 2023. Before politics he was a school principal in the Louis Riel School Division for two decades. As Education Minister he has led the restoration of school divisions abolished under the previous PC government's Bill 64 (which the NDP repealed in 2024), the reinstatement of school-board elections, and the $10-a-day child-care expansion under the federal-provincial bilateral.
